I realized it’s been forever since I’ve actually made a burger at home. Buying 8 packs of buns isn’t really cost-effective, and I sure as hell ain’t eating 8 cheeseburgers worth of ground meat in the time it would take so that the meat doesn’t go bad. So I go with what’s around. Homemade country bread, half an onion (caramelized in my new, impulse bought skillet) horseradish beer cheese spread from Ommegang, a hunk of gruyere, and a cheap steak.
